Having already designed the kitchen in their London home, the clients approached us again to design the kitchen-dining-living area in for their country home in Wiltshire. We worked alongside eco architects, Michaelis Boyd.  The brief was to create a light, spacious, contemporary living area for a family of eight that did not compromise the integrity of this grade II listed building.

A new open-plan kitchen-dining-living area was created to provide a huge space with plenty of natural light. Light now floods in through the roof lights and French windows that open onto a courtyard.

The house is home to a large family and one of their key requirements was to have a hard-working, easy-to-use, and sociable area. The 3.8-metre long island offers ultimate ease and sociability. On a functional level it houses two sinks, flush induction hob, dishwasher and also offers masses of hidden storage. The stainless steel worktops are the perfect choice for a practical family kitchen. They look very professional and are hygenic, very easy to clean, and heat resistant. The walk-in pantry provides separate storage and includes a game larder. The back wall houses the aga and also a double oven as an alternative. The stainless steel American-style fridge is positioned in a recess within easy use of the working kitchen.

The use of wood and stone and the aga on the back wall give this contemporary living area an organic, country feel and make it the perfect backdrop for a listed building in the rolling Wiltshire countryside.
