Georgian manor house in Oxfordshire
Our client’s priority was to create a contemporary living area that did not compromise the original architecture of their Georgian manor house and also blended into its rural Oxfordshire landscape. Under direction of architects Michaelis Boyd, a one-storey wing was built to accommodate their new kitchen-dining-living area.
The theatre-style kitchen was kept very simple. It is designed along one wall and a central island. The wall houses the four-oven aga while the island provides a sociable work area and is home to modern appliances and an additional smaller prep sink. The use of solid, chunky oak for shelving and worktops gives the area an organic, traditional feel and reflects the extensive use of wood throughout the house.
We have since being approached by this client to design the living space in their London home.
