An architect-designed, single-storey glass box houses a striking and practical conservatory kitchen with sleek off-white cabinets, an oak breakfast bar and reclaimed Yorkstone flooring. Constructed around two sides of the extension is a low-level wall to which the matt white base units are attached. A storage unit with a pull-out shelf contains small appliances which may be concealed when not in use and a microwave, fan oven and warming drawer are positioned to the left of the sink. Other important considerations included treating the oak on the breakfast bar to avoid fading in the sun, installing underfloor heating for warmth in the winter and choosing thermally insulated anti-reflective glass to prevent the kitchen overheating in the summer.
